Nowadays Naperville has a population of about 75,000 on one side of the DuPage county and 45, 000 residents on the side of Will County and, despite the split, Naperville is the 5th largest city in the state of Illinois, following Chicago, Aurora, then Rockford and Joliet, respectively.

Seventy years later, despite the main pull being the rural existence of Naperville, it experienced a massive growth spurt, beginning during the 1960’s and carrying on slowly through the 1980’s and 1990’s. Since the Ronald Reagan Memorial Tollway was constructed further prosperity has come to the area, creating jobs in all sectors, including corporate and industrial. This has been the largest contribution to the wealth of the area and the sprawl into the Chicago Metropolitan area.
