Any person who has ever seen a pest in their home can tell you that the number one place they have spotted them is in the kitchen. Especially when it comes to mice, ants, and roaches. Keep Dishes Washed and DriedIf you want to prevent pests from entering your kitchen, you can’t leave dishes in the sink, especially overnight. Make sure that all dishes are washed, dried, and put away shortly after they make their way into your sink. Pests love to lick the plates clean so to speak, something you don’t want to find when you go into the kitchen in the middle of the night.

Hire the Pest Control ProfessionalsHiring an Elk Grove exterminator to spray your home at least once a month is a great way of preventing pests from entering the home. On top of that, monthly inspections will let the exterminator pick up on any signs that you might have the beginnings of a pest control problem.

These are just a couple of the top tips for preventing pests of any kind from invading your kitchen and the rest of your home as well. For more information on where to find an Elk Grove exterminator, contact the offices of Apex Pest Control for help.

French workers use threats in compensation demand

Friday, July 17, 2009Following similar threats by workers at New Fabris and Nortel, workers at JLG in Tonneins, France, threatened to blow up several platform cranes. The JLG factory announced in April 2009 that it will fire 53 of its 163 workers by the end of 2009, while the remaining 110 jobs will not be secure over the next 2 years.

JLG Tonneins was acquired in 2006 with its parent JLG Industries, a maker of aerial work platforms, by the U.S.-based Oshkosh Corporation. Despite being hugely profitable in the past, production has been much reduced since 2008 with the contraction of the construction industry and lower demand for its products. Despite excellent past results the new American management demanded sweeping cuts at the company.

In the view of locals, “the company’s actions are a disgrace given the expensive perks, such as official cars, for its corporate fat cats, compared to the sacrifice, silence, and dignity demanded by the company of those it has made redundant.”

The management offered severance pay of 3,000 (US $4,200), however the workers demanded a severance package commensurate with “the wealth that their labor has generated.” Worker’s delegates requested a “supra-legal” payment of € 30,000, on Thursday 16 of July the management responded with a counter offer of € 16,000. On Thursday night the worker’s actions secured the € 30,000 settlement initially demanded.

Car Insurance Seattle: A Matter Of Necessity

Get More Information Here:

byAlma Abell

Car Insurance Seattle is not a matter of choice. It is required. Some drivers may not realize the seriousness of driving without it. If people take chances on not having insurance, it can land them in jail. They could also suffer from financial ruin if they are involved in accidents. This is because they can be sued in civil court for damages. Even if they are indigent, the courts could rule in favor of the injured people, which would mean judgments against people who do not have insurance. The risks are too great to ignore.

Sometimes it comes down to people taking the risk of not having car insurance solely because they are afraid of the cost. You can acquire affordable insurance, but you may need to do some quote comparisons to find policies that are in the range of what you can afford. You may be able to utilize the services of a broker. This is one of the best ways to quickly compare quotes, and find a company that matches your budget and needs.

All Car Insurance Seattle policies are not created equally. This is why it comes down to much more than finding an affordable policy. At a minimum, you must have liability insurance to drive on the roads. If you still are paying payments on your vehicle, you may need to have full coverage on it because you are not the actual owner. As far as the law is concerned, the car is owned by the company or financial institution that extended the loan to you. Therefore, you cannot just choose what type of insurance you want.

Automobiles have different values, and this is something that also should be kept in mind when shopping for Car Insurance Seattle. SAV-ON Insurance Agencies Seattle are an affordable option for getting the insurance you need on your vehicle. One of the most impressive things about these agencies is that they feature options that are ideal for families. Someday you may have children who will become drivers. They will need to also be covered by insurance to protect them and you on the roadways. Click here for more information.

Bronx, New York church destroyed in suspicious blaze

Monday, March 8, 2010

Second-alarm flames engulfed a Bronx, New York church, St Nicholas of Tolentine, just before noon on Friday, forcing its pastor and seven worshippers into the streets.

The blaze began in a confessional-converted-storage room near the vestibule of the church. “I rushed over and smoke was billowing out,” said Father Joseph Girone. Girone rushed parishioners through the church rectory door as the entrance had been blocked.

Over 100 firefighters fought the blaze, and several reported minor injuries due to ceiling collapse.

Fire Department (FDNY) officials immediately suspected arson. “The fire accelerated rapidly [and] it was a heavy fire that didn’t have the normal flow of a fire”, said FDNY Deputy Chief Kevin Scanlon. Investigators are determining whether the fire is related to a series of church burnings that have been occurring across the borough.

Parishioners are distraught by the destruction of their beloved church. Father Joseph Tran said, “The whole vestibule is damaged. The ceiling, the walls and the doors”. Isabel Gonzales, a regular attendant for 28 years, said, “I feel sorry and I want to cry because this has been my home away from home for a long time”. A church official reported that it was too early to determine construction lengths or repair costs.

Devoted worshippers promised that they would hold a “Stations of the Cross” gathering outside on Friday night.

British actor and comedian Sir Norman Wisdom dies aged 95

Tuesday, October 5, 2010

Tributes are being paid following the announcement late last night that the veteran British actor and comedian Sir Norman Wisdom has died at the age of 95.

He passed away peacefully at the Abbot’s Wood nursing home, Ballasalla, Isle of Man yesterday evening. Following a series of strokes over the last 6 months, his health had declined severely.

Sir Norman’s career spanned almost seven decades, during which time he starred in 19 films, and 38 sitcoms, most as the inept character “Pitkin”, the persistant thorn in the side of his boss, Mr. Grimsdale. His most well known serious role came in the television play Going Gently in 1981, for ITV, in which he played a patient in hospital suffering from terminal cancer.

Following the news, the Albanian Ambassador in the UK, Zef Mazi explained that Sir Norman’s death was covered on all the news channels in Albania, where he was exceptionally popular. His material was the only Western-style comedy permitted to be shown in the Communist country. “After Charlie Chaplin, he was the biggest comedy star in Albania. I still remember his character Pitkin and his boss Mr Grimsdale,” he said. “He was very popular with everyone from very young people to very old people and he made us laugh at a time, in the communist period, when there were not many reasons to laugh.”

The Isle of Man’s Chief Minister, Tony Brown MHK, said that he was “deeply saddened” to have heard of the death. He is quoted as having said “[w]e were very fortunate indeed that Sir Norman chose to make the Isle of Man his home. He was a wonderful asset to the local community and made a tremendous contribution to countless Island charities and good causes.”

He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in her conferred role as Lord of Mann on his 90th birthday in 2005, at the same time being made a Freeman of the Borough of Douglas.

The announcement of Sir Norman’s death was confirmed by his son and family in a statement last night.

Sarasota doctor heading to prison

Sarasota doctor heading to prison

Thursday, October 5, 2006

Former Sarasota dermatologist Michael Rosin is heading to prison to serve a 22-year prison sentence for defrauding Medicare by performing unnecessary surgeries on elderly Sarasota, Florida patients.

On Rosin’s 56th birthday, in front of his family, Judge William Castagna sentinced him to 22 years in federal prison. The judge also ordered Rosin to pay $3.7 Million to the government, $3.6 Million to the medicare trust fund and $48,866 to patients.

More than 865 elderly Sarasota area residents had multiple surgeries performed by Rosin when biopsies showed of no signs of cancer, or could not be read. Rosin was convicted of diagnosing cancer on almost everyone who entered his office. Biopsy slides were found to have bubble gum or foam on it instead of skin samples.

Former patients of Rosin testified at the trial that his surgeries left them disfigured. The $46,866 awarded to the patients will help to repay them for the costs associated with the unnecessary surgeries.

Throughout the trial Rosin maintained that he was innocent. He blamed his office staff for the unreadible slides and the slides with the gum and foam on them. Rosin said his biggest mistake was giving his office staff too much access to the lab.

Rosin’s attorney said that the doctor will appeal his convection. Rosin tried many different defenses including that he was not competent to assist in his own defense.
