Russian commander: Tu-160s penetrate US airspace undetected

Tuesday, April 25, 2006

A senior Russian air force commander has claimed that new, upgraded Tu-160 bomber aircraft were unchallenged by US air defense systems when they penetrated a radar zone near the Canadian coast in US territory during an April training exercise, reports the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.

Commander of Russia’s long-range strategic bombers, Lieutenant General Igor Khvorov said that the bombers successfully carried out four mock Tu-95MS cruise missile launches, 200 mock bombings, and 53 mock sorties during the exercise. The RIA Novosti reported that the United States Air Force is currently investigating how the Tu-160’s escaped detection.

Lieutenant General Igor Khvorov said, “They were unable to detect the planes either with radars or visually.”

Khvorov denies any link of the tests to the current US-Iranian tension, saying, “Of course, our exercises did not have anything to do with the situation in Iran, but their organization indirectly echoed in that region.”

The Tupolev Tu-160 is a strategic bomber introduced in 1987. It resembles the North American B-1B Lancer, but is larger and faster, being powered by four NK-32 afterburning turbofans, the largest in any combat aircraft. It is not considered to be a stealth aircraft due to its exposed engine inlets and broad wing gloves.

According to Khvorov over the course of this year, two additional Tu-160s will be commissioned for the long-range strategic bomber fleet with the numerous upgrades, including the ability to launch cruise missiles, aviation bombs, and satellite communication.

Edmund White on writing, incest, life and Larry Kramer

Thursday, November 8, 2007

What you are about to read is an American life as lived by renowned author Edmund White. His life has been a crossroads, the fulcrum of high-brow Classicism and low-brow Brett Easton Ellisism. It is not for the faint. He has been the toast of the literary elite in New York, London and Paris, befriending artistic luminaries such as Salman Rushdie and Sir Ian McKellen while writing about a family where he was jealous his sister was having sex with his father as he fought off his mother’s amorous pursuit.

The fact is, Edmund White exists. His life exists. To the casual reader, they may find it disquieting that someone like his father existed in 1950’s America and that White’s work is the progeny of his intimate effort to understand his own experience.

Wikinews reporter David Shankbone understood that an interview with Edmund White, who is professor of creative writing at Princeton University, who wrote the seminal biography of Jean Genet, and who no longer can keep track of how many sex partners he has encountered, meant nothing would be off limits. Nothing was. Late in the interview they were joined by his partner Michael Caroll, who discussed White’s enduring feud with influential writer and activist Larry Kramer.

Serbia and Montenegro: Red Star advances to cup finals

Wednesday, May 11, 2005

Red Star (Crvena Zvezda) Belgrade advanced to the Serbia and Montenegro football cup finals, after defeating Partizan Belgrade with a score of 2:0 yesterday. The first goal was scored by Nikola Žigi? in the tenth minute (10′). Krivokapi? scored the other goal in the final moments of the match – 90′.

The game between city rivals was attended by only about 8,000 fans. Aside from heavy rain, many fans of both Red Star and Partizan decided to boycott the game.

Red Star’s fans were forbidden from performing their traditional choreography at the beginning of the match, probably due to riots that took place the last time Red Star and Partizan played a regular league game. Partizan’s fans displayed a large sign reading “Football Association of Serbia and Montenegro = mafia.”

Red Star has a chance to win the cup against Železnik, while Partizan is on its way to win the league with a 7 point lead.

Diet For Irritable Bowel Syndrome

By Jessica Bradbury

Each person is different, but there are a few general guidelines to follow on a diet for irritable bowel syndrome. Anyone who suffers from IBS can recall one or two foods that make their IBS symptoms worse. There may be several other unidentifiable foods that may also trigger IBS symptoms.

Try eating several smaller meals throughout the day rather than having three large ones. This may help to reduce IBS symptoms. Some IBS sufferers note that after a large meal they may develop cramping and diarrhea.

Many people also find that it help to keep their meals high in carbohydrates such as pasta, fruits, cereals, whole-grain breads, rice and vegetables. They also want to eat low-fat meals. A high protein, low-fat diet may also help reduce the pain that is experienced after eating.

These are some foods that can trigger attacks of IBS:

Alcohol

Artificial fats

Coconut milk

Dairy products

Fried foods

Dark meat and poultry skin

Shortening

Artificial sweeteners

Carbonated beverages

Coffee- even decaf

Egg yolks

Oils

Red meat

Solid chocolate

Fiber

Soluble fiber has various benefits that may help to reduce IBS symptoms. Because fiber seems to keep the colon slightly distended, spasms may be prevented. Fiber absorbs water. This helps the stools from getting too hard so that you may have difficulty in passing them. You should add just enough fiber to your IBS diet so that stools remain soft and are easy to pass. When first going to a high fiber diet, you may notice an increase in bloating and gas. However, these symptoms should subside as your body adjusts which could take a few weeks.

Sources of Soluble Fiber

Here are some sources of soluble fiber that you should consume on your IBS diet:

Barley

Currants

Figs

Fresh peas

Citrucel

Oatmeal

Prunes

Raisins

Sourdough bread

Brown rice

Dried beans

French bread

Oat bran

Pasta

Metamucil

Rice

Soy

These are some foods that may cause excessive gas so you want to try to avoid these on an IBS diet at first. You may then add them slowly back into your diet, one by one, to see if any one is the reason for your symptoms:

Beans

Brussels sprouts

Cauliflower

Leeks

Onions

Bananas

Broccoli

Cabbage

Garlic

Nuts

Raisins

Lactose Intolerance

When a body is unable to digest milk sugar, or lactose, the condition is known as lactose intolerance. Some of the symptoms include bloating, gas and even pain. If you suspect that you may be lactose intolerant, then you should avoid milk and all dairy products and see if your symptoms improve. You must be sure that your body receives enough calcium in other ways through calcium supplements or eating other calcium rich foods.

Probiotics

Consuming lactobacillus acidophilus or friendly bacteria may also be an aid in digestion. This helps to maintain the good bacteria in your intestines. You can easily find these good bacteria in yogurt. Yogurt is also a good source of calcium, and is better tolerated than some of the other milk products.

Food Diary

You may be up against a big challenge when it comes down to figuring out what food will either harm or help IBS. When you are on a diet for irritable bowel syndrome, the best thing for you to do is to keep a food journal. You will be able to easily tell which foods are safe to eat and which foods may trigger your IBS symptoms.

Remember to try and stick to your diet for irritable bowel syndrome. You may just be pleasantly surprised at how your symptoms are relieved with the proper diet.

Internet group Anonymous hacks No Cussing Club’s website, owner’s e-mail account

Internet group Anonymous hacks No Cussing Club’s website, owner’s e-mail account

Friday, January 23, 2009

Wikinews has learned that the internet group known only as “Anonymous” has hacked the website of the No Cussing Club (NCC), nocussing.com, for at least two days in a row. On day one, the group hacked into the website, replacing the content with links to images of alleged e-mail conversations. The e-mails appear to be from the founder’s e-mail account, accusing organization members of forgery and using the site for their own personal financial gains. The website was also replaced with Anonymous’s logo and a message. On January 22, they again attacked the website, by means of a Distributed Denial-of-service attack (DDoS), bringing it offline periodically throughout the day. Anonymous attacked the Scientology website in 2008 with a DDoS attack, taking it off-line for at least two days.

“It has come to our attention that the creators of the no cussing club, McKay and Brent Hatch have done so at great personal gain. Their material promotes the organization as the brainchild of their 14-year-old son, when actually the material is written by his parents, who also manage his profitable career while using his speaking events to plug their own material,” said Anonymous on the hacked website. On Encyclopedia Dramatica, a satire Wiki, they claim further responsibility for the hack and exposition saying they managed to break into McKay and Brent Hatch’s email accounts. “[the accounts got] haxx0rd and via this astonishing development passwords were got and a certain website got its shit ruined.”

According to the NCC’s website, it has 20,000 members worldwide, was founded in 2007 by McKay Hatch, a 14-year-old boy, and aims at discouraging swearing in public places such as schools. In 2008, McKay even succeeded in making cussing illegal in his hometown of South Pasadena, California and has appeared on various talk shows such as that of Doctor Phil. However, according to e-mails leaked to Wikinews, allegedly written by the boy’s father Brent, a motivational speaker also owning Dawson Publishing, the parents are allegedly using the site and their son’s material for their own personal financial gain. Anonymous also claims that the parents have forged some of their son’s writings and claim it to be his.

The e-mails allege that Brent along with his publishing company, the name which “nocussing.com” is also registered under, were trying to set up assemblies in the No Cussing Club’s name at schools across the United States for US$1,500.00 per show and would then pocket the money, doing the same for postcards they created for churches and schools.

“McKay spoke last night to a group of 40 people, and at the end of his presentation, there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd. I know this is going to work because the message is so important. Thanks for all you do and I hope we can work together for a long time, and of course make money in the process,” said Brent in an alleged e-mail conversation on November 25, 2008. Earlier in August 2008, Brent spoke about hoping to reach a “goal” of “2.5 million dollars” by selling thousands of postcards to “schools and churches”.

On January 19, 2009, ABC News.com reported that McKay claimed Anonymous was sending him and his family hate e-mail and death threats, nearly 50,000 per day, “almost all of them filled with obscenities” and spam. On the NCC’s website, McKay calls himself the “most cyberbullied kid on the planet” because of Anonymous’s attacks.

“A lot of people were saying I was taking away their freedom of speech,” said McKay to ABC News on January 16. “All I was trying to do was raise awareness.” He says he formed the club because his schoolmates were sick of hearing people swear in public. Wikinews contacted the NCC to confirm or deny the reports, but would only say that “the FBI is [working] on it [the case]” including “our attorney and we will press charges” against those who are responsible for the crimes.

Anonymous is known to prank and hack websites and e-mail accounts. In September 2008, the group hacked into BillOreilly.com, the official website of Fox News Channel commentator Bill O’Reilly, exposing personal information of the site’s users in a document posted on the internet.

The NCC is located in South Pasadena. According to the California Penal Code §502 part C of the computer hacking laws, depending on the offense if caught, punishments could be a “fine not exceeding ten thousand dollars ($10,000), or by imprisonment in the state prison for 16 months, or two or three years, or by both that fine and imprisonment, or by a fine not exceeding five thousand dollars ($5,000), or by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year, or by both that fine and imprisonment”.

On October 20, 2008, Dmitriy Guzner, aged 18 from New Jersey, admitted to the charges related to carrying out the DDoS attack on Scientology’s website. He was subsequently charged with computer hacking crimes and faces a maximum sentence of ten years imprisonment.

Stock markets worldwide fall dramatically

">
Stock markets worldwide fall dramatically

Wednesday, September 17, 2008

Stock markets around the world, particularly those in the United States, have fallen dramatically today. This is due to the ongoing events in the financial world, including the bailout of large insurance firm AIG by the US Federal Reserve.

The primary UK index, the FTSE 100, dropped in value by 2.36%, which is 118.40 points, to below the 5000 mark at 4907.20. The Dow Jones was down 2.62% at 16:08 UTC, a slight increase from earlier today. The Dow Jones currently has a value of 10769.00 points. The Nasdaq index has fallen by 3.16% to 2138.14, while the Dax was 1.75% lower than the start of the day as of 16:08 UTC.

The Japanese index the Nikkei was one of the few to rise in value over the day. It ended up 1.2%, although this follows a large fall in the value of the index when it hit an all time low yesterday.

Darren Winder, a market analyst from Cazenove, said that “I don’t think anyone has got any or much confidence in market direction for more than a few days.”

A lot of today’s activities in the market were related to the takeover of the American International Group (AIG) on Tuesday in an US$ 85 billion loan, in exchange for a 79.9% stake in the company.

The fact that AIG has thousands of divisions engaged in business across the globe sets them apart from the recent problems with other banks. AIG was built up over the last several years via the buyouts and mergers of many companies around the world, offering AIG’s stockholders a diverse base of income which allowed it to steadily increase profits.

In addition, the markets have also had difficulties during the past week after the refusal of the Federal Reserve to bail out Lehman Brothers, forcing the company to file for bankruptcy on Monday after Bank of America (BoA) and Barclays PLC pulled out of negotiations over the weekend.

The New Zealand Police has reported that a three-year-old boy choked to death on Saturday afternoon, due to what they believe was a piece of candy at his birthday party.

The parents did call New Zealand’s emergency number, 1-1-1, after their son alerted his parents to the fact that he was choking. The paramedics were unable to revive the Napier boy when they arrived at the scene.

The case has been referred to a coroner.

Relatively unknown golfer Zach Johnson won the 71st Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia. Johnson shot 3-under-par 69 in Sunday’s fourth round, to win by 2 strokes over Tiger Woods, Retief Goosen, and Rory Sabbattini.

Johnson won a purse worth US$1,305,000 and a lifetime qualification to the Masters Tournament, held annually at the Augusta National Golf Club.

A couple living in New York City have decided to take a taxi all the way to Arizona. Betty and Bob Matas are retiring and leaving the city for good. What started as joke, has become reality, in part to spare their cats from traveling in a jetliner cargo-hold. They have negotiated a US$3,000 flat fee instead of the metered rate, which was estimated at US$5,000.

A vocational nurse working for Dr. John Capriotti, a plastic surgeon, was accused of setting the fire that wounded several and killed three people in Houston, Texas on March 28. She was allegedly trying to cover up the fact that she hadn’t completed the paperwork for an upcoming audit.

The fire began in Dr. Capriotti’s office on the fifth floor and quickly spread to the sixth. Arson investigators from the Houston Fire Department, the FBI and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives had been working to determine the source of the fire.

Iran announced that it has started industrial scale production of nuclear fuel involving hundreds of centrifuges. The announcement comes as President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reasserts his nation’s nuclear rights in the face of two rounds of sanctions by the UN Security Council, which is seeking a halt to such work.

The United States denounced the declaration, saying it showed Iran was defying the international community.

How To Delete Bad Credit History

Get More Information Here:

By L J Sutherland

It seems great when you’re driving that new Porsche you’ve always wanted or living in your two story mansion. It is wonderful until we need to find the money to pay it all back. That is why it is important to learn how to delete bad credit history.

You need to be able to erase any credit history that is inaccurate, questionable or out of date. There are two ways to do this. You can file a dispute with the three major credit bureaus or directly contact the creditor yourself. Either way you will need proof of the claim you are trying to make. It could be a long, drawn out process.

When you file a dispute with the bureaus they will investigate it within thirty days. If they find new information they will update your credit report by deleting negative items from your report. If you directly contact the creditor you will be able to negotiate a repayment plan with an agreement to have your credit rating status reported as paid through the credit bureaus. This will clear your debt so you will be able to borrow again from the lenders.

Negative credit items may lead to charge offs with two negative listings from both the creditor and successive collection agency. A judgment or public record can be attached to your home or personal assets. Any collection default may cause a string of collections to be added to your credit history. This adds more bad credit being recorded on your report.

If you plead bankrupt it will stay on your credit up to ten years.

If repossession occurs it can be a hassle when you wish to apply for a home or car loan. It becomes hard to scrape up the money to buy the things you really want when you seem to have a black mark against your name. The lenders just want to refuse you of any assistance.

You could hire a credit repair attorney. They will be able to negotiate with the creditor on your behalf to sort out a repayment that suits both parties. You will need to investigate and find one that is affordable for your finances. Obviously if you are looking to repair bad credit, your financial position is probably below that of being able to pay this cost.

Bad credit is hard to erase.

Once you have a bad credit history the creditors are not interested in helping you out. The best way to avoid this is to avoid getting in debt totally. It’s as simple as just not borrowing from anyone, especially from the companies that will charge an interest fee.

You will also need to be careful to avoid the scammers as there are people out there who will try and take you for every penny you have. They will make you promises and once they get your money you will never hear from them again. You need to look for the legitimate companies who will help you out-The ones who will show you how to delete bad credit history-Hopefully forever.
