Aruba Rentals Company Explains How To Choose A Property Management Company}

Submitted by: Matthew Smillie

Aruba – The company you choose to manage your vacation home is a vital decision. Your property management company can make a huge difference in the state of your property and the amount of times it is rented, says Matthew Smillie, owner of Aruba Villa Vacation Homes, an Aruba vacation rental company.

“It’s essential to have an agency that you have confidence in and that is extremely dependable,” observes Smillie, who rents villas in Aruba. “Your company should make the alterations and repairs that you require. They should maintain your vacation property in a secure and good condition.”

Another essential quality to look for is expertise. “You need an agency that knowledgeable about property management – one that really understand how homes work and how to care for them,” notes Smillie. “A property manager should check on your home often – even when it is unoccupied – to ensure you don’t have any problems and to do regular maintenance.”

Naturally, you also need a manager with a sterling reputation. If additional homeowners are satisfied with the service, you probably will be as well. “The leading real estate agency on Aruba recommends us,” says Smillie, who rents Aruba villas. “In addition, many of our property management customers give us good recommendations.”

Smillie’s agency manages the Aruba villa of one family who wrote: “They succeeded in renting the home for more weeks in the last year than the prior rental agent achieved in the preceding five years. They also manage our home, paying the monthly bills, taking care of day-to-day maintenance, etc. We are delighted to now be turning a healthy profit after all operating expenses have been paid. They gave us peace of mind. I simply can’t say enough about the quality of their service.”

For every customer, Smillie’s staff provides the best customer service. “We do whatever we need to do in order to make sure that property owners and rental clients are pleased with their experience,” explains Smillie. “Customer service is the most essential part of our business and that is what makes our customers return to our agency time after time.” Another of Smillie’s property management clients said, “Choosing and then entrusting your property to a managing agent can be daunting, but you can be confident that Aruba Property Manager will provide a truly outstanding and personalized service. Our home in Aruba is always maintained in tip-top condition and is promoted so effectively that rental income has exceeded expectations.”

Ricky Hatton regains IBF light welterweight title

Ricky Hatton regains IBF light welterweight title

Sunday, January 21, 2007

Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton regained the IBF light welterweight title belt he relinquished less than 12 months ago when he defeated Juan Urango in Las Vegas, Nevada tonight.

“The Hitman” won by unanimous decision, as the fight went to 12 rounds. Despite early match odds suggesting Hatton would dominate the fight, this was not the case. Each round was close, but most pundits and judges alike agreed that Urango only won 1 of the 12 rounds, with Hatton taking the other 11.

Despite the unfamiliar confines of Las Vegas, Hatton looked touched by the ringing of football fan-like chants, familiar in British boxing, that rang around the arena, as more than half of it was filled by traveling support from across the atlantic.

Many in the UK will hope Hatton has ended the “curse” that has seen names such as Frank Bruno, Naseem Hamed, Barry McGuigan and others fall short while headlining fights on “The Strip”.

From here, it is widely believed “The Hitman” will move on to fight Jose Luis Castillo in June, again likely in Vegas.

Canada’s Astral Media Inc. to aquire Standard Radio

Monday, February 26, 2007

Canadian Astral Media Inc. will buy out Standard Radio Inc., which runs many radio stations in Canada. Standard Radio Inc. is the largest privately owned multimedia company in Canada.

Montreal based Astral Media Inc. will buy all of the assets from Standard Radio Inc. for about CAN$1.2-billion. Standard Radio Inc.’s 52 radio stations, and Astral’s 29, will be brought together by Astral Media Inc. This will give Astral 81 radio stations in total. This makes Astral the largest radio operator in Canada of FM and AM radio.

“With the acquisition of Standard Radio, Astral Media will not only be acquiring the best performing radio stations in the country, we will at the same time acquire a company with similar values and culture. said Ian Greenberg, President and CEO of Astral Media.

“Over the past four decades the Slaight family has built a remarkable collection of strong radio brands and has contributed meaningfully in shaping the Canadian radio industry as we know it today. We are delighted with the prospect of welcoming Standard Radio’s employees into our team.”

Gary Slaight, President and CEO of Standard Radio also commented on the deal.

“We are looking forward to becoming a part of the Astral Media family,” said Gary Slaight, President and CEO of Standard Radio. “We are pleased to see our legacy live on with a company such as Astral that has such a strong track record and commitment to its employees and to the Canadian radio and television industries.”

All of Astral’s radio stations are run in Quebec and Atlantic Canada and it also runs various television stations across Canada. Astral also has two french channels that broadcast on Sirius satellite radio Canada.

The company hopes to finalize the deal in or before April.

Study: cognitive therapy as good as medication, but lasts longer

Study: cognitive therapy as good as medication, but lasts longer

Wednesday, April 6, 2005A landmark study comparing effectiveness in reducing major depression of two forms of initial treatment — cognitive therapy which involves discussing thought processes with a qualified counselor, vs medication — has revealed that both forms of therapy reduce depression, but that the benefits of cognitive therapy last longer than those of medication. The study finding contradicts current treatment guidelines of the American Psychiatric Association (APA).

The 16-week study, by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania and Vanderbilt University, was the largest trial yet undertaken to resolve the years-old debate. Two-hundred-and-forty patients with moderate-to-severe depression were given one or other of the treatments, or a purposely-ineffective placebo. Study representatives described the two treatments about equally effective — both much more effective than the placebo — but with the positive effect of talk-therapy lasting longer.

In fact, the cognitive therapy group saw only as many relapses as a another group that had continued to receive drug therapy.

“We believe that cognitive therapy might have more lasting effects because it equips patients with the tools they need to learn how to manage their problems and emotions,” said Robert DeRubeis, professor and chair of Penn’s Department of Psychology. “Pharmaceuticals, while effective, offer no long term cure for the symptoms of depression. For many people, cognitive therapy might prove to be the preferred form of treatment.”

“Medication is often an appropriate treatment, but drugs have drawbacks, such as side effects or a diminished efficacy over time,” DeRubeis said. “Patients with depression are often overwhelmed by other factors in their life that pills simply cannot solve. In many cases, cognitive therapy succeeds because it teaches the skills that help people cope.”

Researchers pointed out that while the effectiveness of cognitive therapy depended largely on the experience of the practitioner, the same was true of medication, due to the judgement required in prescribing correct dosages of drugs.

The APA declined to comment, on the basis that a quote appearing on Wikinews could be distorted by subsequent edits of the article.

Benefits Of A Good Training Journal

Benefits of a good training journal

by

Ryan Fyfe

Most of us have trained at one part in our lives. Chances are if you ve ever taken your training seriously you ve used a training journal or a training log.

The main difference between training journals and training logs, is what you document in them after each workout or day, etc. Training journals are just that. They are more of a journal rather than a log. They will normally include things like mental health and how you felt during the day or your workout. They can reach a bit into some statistical information but this is normally saved for a training log.

Training logs are generally created of off some kind of a template. For example. Everyday you fill out a form that has the same fields. Things like current weight, daily workout, diet information, are all things that can be put in a training Log on a day to day basis.

I wouldn t recommend going all one route or all the other, both journaling and logging are important to keep an effective history of your past. I ve found out through experience and that for convenience sake it s nice to have two combined together in some way. This way it s always easy to remember to do both.

Benefits of recording your trainingThe number one benefit of recoding your training is to have a detailed history to look back on. This can be very useful in times of planning. For example to figure out what has worked for you and what hasn t. It s very useful for figuring out reasons for injuries or for times of burnout.

Have you ever sat down and tried to plan out training with nothing to work with? If you have something to look back upon a detailed account of what you ve done over the past few weeks it s easy to plan ahead, and to effectively increase your workout intensity, etc to improve for the future.

A detailed journal is also really nice to have just for personal use, and to be able to look back on past months and years, to remember different accounts.

School dinner costs just 49p in Wales

Wednesday, March 30, 2005A survey carried out by BBC Wales has revealed that the contents of a school meal in Wales cost on average just £0.49 per pupil. Average spending on meal ingredients varied slightly from council to council; with the Cardiff City council spending just £0.40 on each meal, whilst Powys council lavished £0.69 per pupil.

The survey follows a recent surge in media coverage of the eating habits of teenagers and children in the UK. Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver recently embarked on a campaign to improve food standards and raise awareness in schools. In response to his campaign the government has promised to spend an additional £280 million over three years on school food in England.

The survey covered twenty councils throughout Wales.

International participants showcase different industry cultures at 2008 Taipei Game Show

Friday, January 25, 2008

B2B Trade Area of Taipei Game Show, criticized by trade buyers last year, but accompanied with 2008 Taiwan Digital Content Forum, moved to the second floor at Taipei World Trade Center for world-wide participants with a better exchange atmosphere this year.

Not only local OBMs (Softstar Entertainment, Soft-World International Corp., International Games System Corp., …, etc.) but also companies from New Zealand, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea showcased different specialists with multiple styles. Especially on South Korea, participated members from G? Trade Show (Game Show & Trade, All-Round, aka Gstar) showcased gaming industry of South Korea and the G? upcoming at this November with brochures.

In the 2-days Digital Content Forum, world-class experts not only shared industry experiences, members from Taiwan Gaming Industry Association also discussed and forecasted marketing models for gaming industry. With participations from governmental, industrial, and academical executives world-wide, this forum helps them gained precious experiences of digital content industry from several countries.

According to the Taipei Computer Association, the show and forum organizer, the digital content industry in Taiwan was apparently grown up recent years as Minister of Economic Affairs of the Republic of China Steve Ruey-long Chen said at Opening Ceremony yesterday. Without R&Ds from cyber-gaming, and basic conceptions from policies and copyright issues, this (digital content) industry will be fallen down in Taiwan. If this industry wanted to be grown up in sustainability, gaming OBMs in Taiwan should independently produce different and unique games and change market style to market brands and games to the world.

Survey Of Common Plastic Surgery Practices In Arkansas

Submitted by: Trevor Price

The most popular Arkansas plastic surgery procedures are rhytidectomy operations (face lifts), nose jobs (rhinoplasty), abdominoplasty (tummy tucks), liposuction and breast implants or augmentations. If you’re an Arkansas resident and want more information about these five common procedures, keep reading.

Breast Enhancement or Implants

Breast enhancement, also known as breast augmentation, is a fairly major surgical operation that is designed to improve the overall shape, size or appearance of the patient’s breast. The operation is permanent, but also reversible and is an extremely popular Arkansas plastic surgery procedure.

Liposuction Procedure

Liposuction works by targeting a specific area of fat deposits on the patient’s body. It’s most effective on patients who are already at an average body weight but simply wish to perfect or minimize a pinpointed area of their body.

Liposuction is a fairly invasive surgical procedure and is typically performed under general anesthesia. First, your doctor marks the area to be treated, makes a small incision and then inserts a long needle just under the skin. The fat deposits are then scraped off the underside of the skin and suctioned out.

Tummy Tucks

Tummy tucks, clinically referred to as abdominoplasty surgeries, are the fastest growing Arkansas plastic surgery operation. Over 8000 tummy tucks were performed in Arkansas last year and the fastest growing sector of patients were men in their mid-to-late 30s.

The goal of a tummy tuck is to eliminate excess skin and fat in the abdominal area and tighten the existing muscles. The procedure can modify an existing body shape or be a great solution for a post-pregnancy mother or post-weight-loss patient with excess skin around the abdominal area.

Rhinoplasty Surgery

Rhinoplasty is the clinical term for a “nose job.” Arkansas plastic surgery practitioners typically take between 1 to 2 hours to perform this permanent surgical procedure. The goal of a rhinoplasty is to improve the appearance of the nose by either reducing its size or improving its shape.

The average Arkansas plastic surgery patient needs about 1 to 2 weeks to recover visibly from a nose job. That said, the internal bruising and some external swelling won’t fully diminish until approximately 4 to 6 months after the surgery.

Face Lift

More commonly known as a face lift, the rhytidectomy is a complex procedure that can be done in a wide variety of styles and patients. Because the surgery has an extended period of recovery, most Arkansas plastic surgery patients take at least 4 weeks before making any public appearances at work or social events.

Most Arkansas plastic surgery patients seek out a face lift to improve loose skin, deep lines, jowls, sagging chins or basic wrinkles.

Despite the increasing popularity and apparent glamor underlying plastic surgery results, the prospect of getting any type of voluntary surgical procedure makes for a serious decision – one that you should never take lightly. Though the long-term benefits normally outweigh the risks, down time, and expense, any time you go under the knife should be done with due caution and wise medical consulation ahead of time.
